As a summer exhibition, I-20 will present Random Grace, an exhibition of sculpture by Tatyana Murray. This will be the artist’s first exhibition.
The artist has created brightly colored objects made of hydrocal (a cross between cement and plaster) that are covered with velvet. The ten works are placed randomly on the walls and floors of the main gallery. The repeated curvilinear, pod-like forms seem to replicate as one looks around the room. They are stationary, and as in nature the bright colors call attention to the forms.
Tatyana Murray was born in London in 1971. She moved to New York in 1994, where she lives and works.
