In the East Room, for his third show at I-20, Patrick Thorne’s “Not Now Kato” is a painting about vanity, notoriety, false stardom and the star factory of publicity production. Its glossy surface and mock architectural design motif are also a send-up of false utopias and the artist’s love-hate relationship with Los Angeles.
