Brian Dailey works in diverse media including the photographic process, digital film, and mixed media on canvas. Most recently he was included in the 2011 annual exhibition of Washington Project for the Arts.

Dailey received his MFA from Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles County in 1975. During the 1970s, he worked and exhibited in Los Angeles including performance art pieces at the Roger Wong Gallery and the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art (LAICA). A performance piece Vice was held at LAICA in November 1977, and was featured in the art magazine High Performance.

In 1987, Dailey received a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Southern California. For the past 27 years he was involved in national security work, namely defense and intelligence matters, government policymaking, and corporate management.

Dailey maintains a studio in Woodstock, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley. He serves on the Board of Trustees of The Phillips Collection, and the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the Collectors Committee of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
